Mode of action

ValloFog Domestic and ValloFog Industrial have been developed for the simultaneous decontamination of indoor air and surfaces in enclosed spaces. ValloFog Domestic was developed for private rooms without public access, material output, or material handling. ValloFog Industrial was created for public spaces with public access and/ or material outflow.

ValloMould was developed for the direct treatment of mold-infested surfaces.

All of Vallovapor© disinfection products should be used undiluted against bacteria, mold, and spores. In addition, unpleasant odors are neutralized.


Product Features:

The products and the agent are non-toxic to humans and mammals, are not eye or skin irritants, are safe for sensitive skin, and are non-mutagenic.

In high concentrations, the agent becomes sticky. This can be felt on surfaces during the drying stage. Unwanted residues can be easily wiped away with water.

HFrequent treatments of metal surfaces can lead to corrosion. Interaction behavior with other surfaces is not known to date.

The product is effective between 1° and 70° C. The optimum effective range is between 10° and 30° C.


Advantages of Fogging:

The fine mist also penetrates into cracks and pores to eliminate bacteria, spores, fungi and other germs and odor molecules, where traditional wipe-down disinfection fails. ValloFog leaves behind an extremely thin antimicrobial layer on all surfaces, and thus has lasting effects. Because of the special "dry" cold-fogging process, the areas to be treated do not need to be cleared (no risk to electrical appliances!) Only bacteria and mold spores are removed from the room air during the cleaning. The rooms are safe to use again just two hours after the treatment.


Mode of Action:

ValloFog and ValloMould act by using electrical charges on microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, spores, even against some viruses, and odor molecules!) Acts. These are killed or at least rendered inactive. The drug is effective against mold and long-lastingly prevents the formation of mold and bacteria even in problem areas. Due to its physical mode of action, ValloFog is not-toxic to humans and mammals!

The MOA (Mode of Action) is, in principle, a physical process: as a cationic polymer, the agent binds to anionic-charged cell walls and cell membranes and destroys them, so the cell is no longer viable. ValloFog binds itself strongly because of the positive particle charge on cell walls and membranes. Subsequently, the membrane function is impaired - the negatively-charged part of the membrane is opened and the cell is penetrated. The effect is the loss of osmo-regulatory and physiological functions. Hydrophilic pores occur, the protein function is disrupted, and eventually this leads to lysis.

ValloFog and ValloMould cannot be used with anionic substances (e.g. soaps, detergents), as these can reduce or completely cancel the effect. Therefore, only neutral or cationic detergents may be used. Treatment with ValloFog does not replace any necessary sanitation or restoration measures.

The optimal effect, especially against fungi and yeasts, is achieved in concert with 100% humidity. For odor and bacterial elimination, 100% humidity is not always required.


Effectiveness:

ValloMould has a very wide spectrum of effectiveness. Its excellent efficacy has been demonstrated against over 236 gram-negative bacterial species, strains, and isolates, about 165 gram-positive bacteria, and more than 166 yeasts and fungi.


Instructions for indoor use:

ValloFog Domestic and ValloFog Industrial are ready-to-use solutions and are specially designed for use with the prescribed Vallovapor© ULV cold-fogging process (see instructions).

ValloMould is also a ready-made solution that is applied with a hand-misting gun.

The execution of the procedure is in addition to the atomization, the organization and preparation for the procedure, and any necessary follow-up work. Technical advice and assistance can be requested from Vallovapor©.

Prior to the fogging, open food and moisture-sensitive items must be removed. 100% humidity is generated during the treatment.

VBefore the misting, any visibly affected areas as well as risk areas (such as thermal bridges, window frames, etc.) are sprayed with ValloMould (following a checklist of specific areas). About 0.25 liters of ValloMould per square meter is required.

To minimize the escape of the fog, the room must be made as airtight as possible. Windows, doors, corridors, vents, media bays, air conditioners, pipes, belt lines, and other venting routes need to be closed off or sealed. The room should have no air exchange with other rooms. Smoke detectors have to be shut down or sealed, or the fog triggers the fire alarm.

If it is not possible to completely seal off the area to be treated, the corresponding implications must be considered in advance and the necessary measures taken in adjoining rooms before, during, and after the application.

The required amount of ValloFog depends on the degree of contamination and the room size. It must create a thick fog to saturate the room. The fog should be allowed to act for at least two hours. Then the doors and windows will be opened and the room aired out as much as possible, until the fog has disappeared. Then the space can be entered again and used without protective clothing.

The addition of such high moisture can have an impact on room elements, machinery and aggregates, control systems and electrical equipment, raw and auxiliary materials, packaging and papers, and so on. There is a checklist of items at risk and the necessary countermeasures to take (e.g., tight coverings).


Air conditioners:

Air conditioners should be off (the disinfection of the air conditioner should be discussed with the client). The evaporators of refrigeration units should not operate during the entire fogging time. They suck in large quantities of the agent which is then no longer available to act in the room.

Before the fumigation, evaporators should receive short special treatment with ValloMould. During the fumigation the evaporator should remain off. About 15 minutes after completion of nebulization, the evaporator should be turned on again for a short time to fill the inner parts with fog.


Things to observe in the food industry:

In areas with desirable cultures of microorganisms, the agent can negatively affect or completely kill these cultures. To avoid this, these spaces must be identified and appropriately evaluated beforehand. Measures must be taken to seal these spaces and/or it is necessary to work with a small amount of excess pressure in these spaces.

Wherever surfaces and equipment come into direct contact with food, they must be rinsed thoroughly after the nebulization with clean water. Dry ingredients are soaked in advance and removed by wiping.


Application of ValloFog:

To ensure long-lasting success, in cases of actue mold, two treatments are recommended. The first treatment is the neutralization of the existing infestation and the germs in the air. After one to two days of contact time, the visible contamination on the treated areas should be cleaned mechanically with lukewarm water (fresh sponge or brush). The intact mycelium should not be removed before the treatment, as this can lead to an undesirable increase in the concentration of the spores in the room, and thus can lead to proliferation of mold. The high concentration of spores may also pose a health hazard for users! Once the surfaces are dry enough to paint, they can be painted as usual with open-cell paint (silicate or lime paint). The second fogging (the same as the first) is performed to sterilize the room permanently.

  • Odor neutralization for buildings and equipment (e.g. a burning smell in the home and in fire equipment, rotting smell, animal odors (cat urine!), butyric acid damage, smokers’ apartments, etc.)
  • Very useful for sensitive customers (those with asthma or allergies), because ValloFog also binds dust and is effective against dust mites
